Michael Patrick Brennan (born August 12, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona) is a hard-working, ginger American. He is best known for his work at Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing, Human Movement Management and on various soccer fields nationwide.

Early Life[edit]

Brennan was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Connie Brennan, known for the world’s greatest cinnamon rolls and squirrel whispering, and Timothy Brennan, a golf and cat enthusiast. He has one sibling, Will, known for being not fun.

Brennan grew up in Naperville, Illinois, a large suburb of Chicago. He attributes his street credibility to this upbringing. The Brennan family was notorious for raising a variety of animals, at one point housing as many as 18 raccoons. In his free time, Brennan excelled at all sports. He was exceptionally good at baseball, soccer, table tennis and thumb wrestling, but soccer was his biggest passion.

He continued to pursue soccer seriously at the age of 10 by joining the Chicago Magic soccer club. He and the Magic went on to win multiple state, regional and national championships, plus winning the 2005 Dallas Cup. Brennan went on to play varsity soccer at Neuqua Valley High School where he served as team captain in 2006.

His soccer career led him to West Virginia University, under coach Marlon LeBlanc, on athletic scholarship in the fall of 2006. After two seasons and three knee surgeries, Brennan decided to explore life after soccer, and transferred to DePaul University. He worked endlessly to regain strength and conditioning and 8 months later he returned to WVU in search of soccer glory. He never found said glory, but did manage to graduate with a degree in marketing.

Career[edit]

Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing[edit]

Armed with a shiny, new degree and eagerness, Brennan took his first job out of college with Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing (GESM), founded by John Guppy and Scott Hutchison. Based in Naperville, Illinois, GESM is a boutique, full-service marketing agency designed to connect brands to
the soccer consumer. Brennan was hired and completed the team of three.

While at GESM, Brennan worked directly with both Guppy and Hutchison to learn the ins-and-outs of sports marketing, brand marketing, sponsorships, product marketing, consumer promotions, event management and social media marketing. In 2012, after successfully leading a massive activation involving the FIFA World Cup Trophy™ at the USMNT vs Brazil soccer match, Brennan decided to pursue other options outside of GESM and relocated to Denver, CO.

Human Movement Management[edit]

After heading west, Brennan spent his first few months familiarizing himself with the city of Denver via exploring, volunteer work and joining multiple soccer leagues (which he dominated). Once settled, he met local business owner Jeff Suffolk while playing soccer. Using his charm,
intelligence and personality, Brennan landed a job with Suffolk’s company, Human Movement Management (HMM). HMM is the largest active entertainment company in North America, producing upwards of 150+ events each year. Most notably they produced The Color Run.

Brennan began his career at HMM as the company’s Social Media and Marketing Director. He was directly responsible for all marketing efforts of HMM’s owned events and brands. During his tenure with HMM, Brennan helped grow the company from 12 employees to 43 full-time employees. He was directly responsible for the campaign to have HMM named Outside Magazines #19 Best Place to Work in 2013. On top of that, he oversaw the growth of The Ugly Sweater Run from 8 cities in 2012 to 32 cities in 2013, which saw an average attendance of 2,500 participants.
